Getting Ready For Back To School In Frisco TX

Getting Ready For Back To School In Frisco TX

Frisco TX Back To School

Back To School In Frisco TX

As Frisco TX parent to 3 children in Elementary school, I understand the excitement and the stress involved with getting things ready for back to school.  My children of course have mixed emotions on returning to school. Two are totally ready to go back, while the other feels it is too soon to go back.  None the less, the time has come and I have enclosed some helpful tips to get things started on the right page this year.  Feel free to share this with any friends you think might appreciate the information as well.  And to all the teachers, thanks for what you do each year!  I appreciate your dedication and hard work.  I know that you put in many more hours than people realize and that you have extraordinary patience with our children to give the direction and instruction they need to learn and prosper.

Preparation Is Key:

  • Make sure to get school supplies bought early if you haven’t already got them.
  • School clothes – have them go through their clothes the week before school starts to see what still fits and what doesn’t.  It is hard when they come down in pants that are too small and then you have to rush to figure out what to change them into.
  • Buy socks for each child that are all the same for easy matching and sorting.  Most brands have a different look or color stripe that can help you easily identify them.  Mostly of course you will use white athletic style socks, but may need one or two pairs of colored dress socks for special dress up days.  By the way tax free weekend is August 17-19 2012 if you need to pick up anything.
  • Label everything, this saves you money in the long run as things get lost all the time in the school.  In our school the lost and found was always over flowing.  The time you spend now with a sharpie will pay off later!
  • If your child has medical concerns call the school nurse to discuss the week before school starts. Make sure to bring things like inhalers and any necessary medication to school right away.  Let your child know that they are there if they need them and share the information with the teacher as well so they will let them go to the nurse if they start showing any symptoms.
  • Hit the grocery store the weekend before for goodies for lunches and quick healthy breakfasts.  Start the kids off right each day by getting them up in plenty of time to enjoy at least 10-15 min. for breakfast time.  If you are a parent that works outside of the home, decide if you need to make a few frozen pre-made meals to have on hand for dinners for hectic nights.  If you are not a morning person, then pack their lunches the night before for a quick grab in the morning.

Getting Everyone Mentally On Board:

  • Try to get the kids to start going to bed earlier and getting up earlier gradually the week or two before to transition their internal clocks to be awake and alert for school and get a good night sleep.
  • Discuss with your kids what they want to have as their goals for this school year and write down the top 3.  Discuss rules for the year and what the schedule will be like for them.  It is easier if they know what the expectations are for homework, chores,  and of course play times during the school year.
  • Have a place for them to store backpacks, important papers for you to sign, jackets, and lunch boxes.  Being organized helps make things run smoother for everyone.  Explain and demonstrate with them the first few days where you want them to put things unti they get it down themselves.

 Making Life Easier

  • Lay out clothes the night before; whether you pick the out or the kids pick them out- at least have them all ready the night before from head to toe.  Allowing kids to make some choices in which outfit they prefer can save some power struggles as long as they are school appropriate or fit any dress code the school may have.
  • Create a homework center, with things like sharpened pencils on hand, erasers, writing paper, extra crayons, etc.  Make sure it is not near a TV or at least have a no TV rule during home work time.
  • Show a positive attitude about school to your child to set the tone and enjoy the new school year!  Make rewards and display projects to show you support of their school activities.  Most importantly,  let them know you love them no matter what their grades are, but you do expect them to do their personal best.

Where Has Good Customer Service Gone?

Where Has Good Customer Service Gone?

Where Has Good Customer Service Gone?

Where Has Good Customer Service Gone?

Are the “good old days” of traditional customer service a thing of the past? It seems that whenever you try and reach a company representative these days you are put on indefinite hold with automated phone services, or put through to somebody who only offers apathetic responses to our issues.

There are a few companies around today that do stand out for their modern day culture of being customer service oriented. Starbucks for example, is one of the businesses that comes to mind.  Customers are offered more than just a cup of coffee that you stand in line and wait for.  You are offered the best quality product, served hot to your exact specifications.  If you choose to go in you notice the ambiance right away and friendly staff  greet you.  No wonder they have thrived in this culture of insensitivity and businesses cutting corners to increase profits.  They focus on intentionally creating that kind of experience for their clients.  We have a pleasant experience when we go there usually so we enjoy going more often.

I have the same customer service focus in my business. I strive to provide a positive experience for my clients.  I try to walk them through each step of the process and explain what to expect and what needs to happen next.  I feel it is important to be available and accessible as your real estate agent.  I hear so many people say that they went to “mega agent” in the past and they only met with him/her once for the listing appointment.  After that, they were handed off to a “team member” that they would want to do business with. They could never reach that agent that they actually signed on with. People want to know who they are doing business with.  They want to be able to call that agent up if they have a question and get updates frequently.  I am that kind of “different” agent that stands out for customer service and creating a positive experience for my clients. I do have a team, however my team provides more of a “back office” support role. They deal with online marketing, transaction processing and administrative duties leaving me time to provide great customer service to my clients.

I also think it is important to offer some extra touches like my move in day meal.  When my buyers move into their new home, I like to surprise them by bringing them lunch, as we all know how much work unpacking is.  Having your friendly realtor show up with a meal to eat is just what you need to enjoy the experience.

Your real estate experience should be a positive one and if you choose the right kind of agent it can be.

Call today if you are in the market for old fashion customer service when you sell your home!
